Apparently reupholstering does jump start labor. ;) We actually did finish the chair the day before he was born and here it is:
Not bad for $20 and my first reupholstering project if I do say so myself. Now I need to decide on fabric for the girl chair. I'm considering some of these:

oh YAY! i have been waiting for forever for you to get time to blog again. :D
i love the first blue/cream damask-like pattern, and i love the last flower one, too. the flowery one looks like it would go with a lot of different looks.
